Thank you so very much again for helping and inspiring so many. It really changed my life. I’m thankful for Neil and thankful for you too.
“We’re not what we eat but what we can digest” These words echoed in my head as I kept telling myself these same words for the past year when I switched to a high fat diet. I researched everything about this lifestyle and while everything made sense and I thoroughly enjoyed it, my digestive system wasn’t always so thrilled. I was ready to give up on the high fat diet style as it seemed that it wasn’t apt for my body or genetics. Something wasn’t right…
My first challenge was in January, and I became obsessed. I even bought the Burn Strength Training program in February, all to realize I had some strong Hypo Cortisol Adrenal problems. All the while, I kept telling myself I was focusing on my health. But my self talk was not about health. It was about wanting to be smaller. I have strong ass thunder thighs, with a booty to match. But my legs never liked shorts or jeans, and I didn’t look like my friends in bathing suits- so I always desired to be smaller. I’m not going to detail my past with my body image problems, because we’ve all been there.
But today,…
I’ve been thinking about writing you all for literally over a year now. I did my first 21 day Superhero Challenge back in August of 2016, a few months after I had my third daughter. I went all in, completely trusting the plan and my life was changed. It went against everything that I previously stood for and believed: counting calories, extended steady cardio sessions, low fat foods, whole grains, and measuring everything before it was consumed.
All of these were awful, yes, but looking back now I realize worst of all I really didn’t like myself. I considered myself the “designated ugly fat friend” to my group of college…
The amount of fad diets I tried before attempting my first 21 Day Challenge is astounding. The “healthier” they were, the harder it was for me to stay focused. So at 23, after a lifetime of obesity, I took a shot at the 21 Day Challenge. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. A year and a half after my first one I’m still eating like a rockstar – because this isn’t a diet, it is a LIFESTYLE and it is SUSTAINABLE! Not only am I slimmer, I am doing things I never thought possible (like CrossFit and Spartan Races), but I’m also a better person day to day. I am able to maintain focus through the 16…
If anyone is the least bit hesitant about how or what their bodies NEED, they should 100% sign up for Macros with Em. I had been eating Keto since May (with a 2 month break-during that time I found out I was pregnant then miscarried and I had no interest in eating the least bit healthy), but was still unsure about what MY body NEEDED. Emily helped me narrow down my caloric intake with specific macro percentages for ME! I was truly intimated at first to ask questions, as I was afraid everyone else participating would have been “more advanced” than me. After the weekly Zoom meetings with Em, I soon realized how personable and…
My journey started at the beginning of 2015. After having 2 children, I was at my highest weight of 225 pounds. With an extensive family history of heart disease and a variety of cancers I knew something was going to have to be done- sooner rather than later. I saw the amount of medications, complications, doctors appointments, etc that were required to manage those health issues and I didn’t want to be a slave to that life if there was anything I could do about it.
I was initially nervous about signing up for my first Superhero Challenge because:
“What if this is a waste of money??”
“What if…
I just really want to say thank you. I’ve always watched you on the challenge (that show is a slight obsession of mine) and I’ve always wanted to do this challenge but I’ve never been an active person so I was hesitant. In the last few years my lack of exercise, metabolism, and stress from school have caught up to me and I started this challenge 21 lbs above my goal weight. I am proud to say that I have lost 6.4 lbs over these past 21 days. I am even more proud to say that this is no longer my goal. My goal is not a specific weight, it is to be the happiest and healthiest me I can be. And I know I have lots of…
Hi I’m Jackie Andrews from the States. Hello I’m Nazish Kalani from Pakistan. Our success (not only in weight loss, but even more so in our careers, our families, our relationships, our mental well-being) comes from our unique friendship that we developed after meeting last year during the 21 Day Challenge in October. We joined Emily’s buddy group and through a variety of posts found that we had a lot in common. In fact, even though we come from different cultures, different religions, and different environments, we have found that we are so much alike.
Just to start with, we both love Emily’s challenge workouts as well…
“When I started the EmFit challenge, I didn’t expect it to change my life as much as it has in such a short amount of time. I’ve always struggled with sticking to a new diet, and would often go in spurts of “healthy” eating and binging on junk foods. Since doing my first challenge, so much has changed. I do not feel deprived when I choose to skip dessert, I no longer have IBS, I’m never hangry, I no longer take multiple naps throughout the day, and I just feel better overall. I have also lost a total of 18lbs and several inches from my waist since the start of the challenge two and a half months ago. The knowledge gained…
I came to Build after a complicated decision to leave CrossFit for a while after quite a few years. I had been driving myself into the ground and draining my energy with frequent intense workouts— on top of stress from juggling multiple responsibilities and building my business. My system was just being overwhelmed from so many angles and I’d been burning the candle at both ends.
I had a tough time leaving CrossFit and struggled to figure out what type of workouts to follow moving forward. I’ve always loved weight lifting and felt my body never responded well physically to frequent conditioning workouts. So when I learned…
When I did the challenge for the first time I worked out and played sports, but didn’t understand the important and timing of proper nutrition. The challenge provided all the resources and knowledge needed for a beginner, as well as the support to stay on track by constantly communicating with you and other superheroes! After taking a few months to find out what macros/nutrition plan worked best for my body, I was ready to push myself even further. I was hesitant that the next challenge would have the same information as my first, but it was exactly what I needed to continue improving. You added new videos and more resources, making…
I have been in the fitness industry for 10 years. In those years, I have struggled so much with finding balance for my weight. At one point I was teaching up to 16 group fitness classes a week, doing my own training, and still watching my weight creep up! I was doing all the conventional weight-loss wisdom that people will tell you – eating my whole grains, packing in protein, and counting each and every calorie as nothing more than just a calorie. When I joined my first 21 day challenge with Emily, I really dedicated everything to learning HOW to eat and why. I binge-watched the AskEm videos because I wanted to pick Emily’s…
I just wanted to write and say THANK YOU!
Two years ago yesterday was Day 1 of my first ever Superhero Challenge. At 43 years old, I was over 250 lbs. and miserable. I suffered from chronic allergies, plantar fasciitis, joint pain, and migraines. I had tried all kinds of diets and would lose a little bit then fall off the wagon and gain more than before. I felt hopeless.
My sister, who had been following you a while, suggested I try your 21 day challenge. “It’s just 21 days,” she said, “You can do anything for 21 days.”
I did it, and the rest is history. I’ve lost over 70 lbs. Rare allergy flare ups. No…
Here are before and afters of me and my husband after 2 challenges! I have lost 13 lbs and he has lost 25 lbs. Thanks so much again! We are already signed up for the next one! Can’t wait!
In 2014, I had 2 very young babies. During my pregnancies, I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and 6 mo after my 2nd pregnancy I was diagnosed with LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adulthood). At the time I was struggling to manage my life, my work, and my health. I was on the blood sugar roller coaster with extremely low, lows in the middle of the night. My husband traveled often for work which meant I was alone with my babies. I would get such lows that I’d wake in the middle of the night with sweats, blurred vision, and I’d have to crawl down the stairs to get to the fridge to eat something. There was one night where I…
I truly don’t even know where to begin.
I have done every challenge of yours since January 2014. Not every time did I come out of it with a perfect score, in fact, other than this challenge, only one other time did I have a perfect score. However, I enjoy the challenges for way more than the score board. Leading up to the challenge I hit a very low point. I had just recently moved, switched jobs, I was sick for a solid 2 weeks, and I was traveling all in the same month. I was so incredibly excited the closer 2/22 got. Not only are my shoulders large and in charge, I’m not having any stomach discomforts.. BUT my face is…
I’ve come to learn that completing the Superhero Challenge is about more than changing your eating habits and working out. It is about changing your mindset. Yes, you will learn how to nourish your body and how to lose weight but I think more importantly you will learn how to be your best self. If you are spending 21 days telling yourself to not eat the sugar or to get up and move, it is hard to continue to put yourself down in any other aspect of your life. You begin to hold yourself accountable. As an added benefit, you have a group of thousands of people who are doing this with you or have done it in the past and can support you. If…
I have done two rounds of Build version 1, and am now on my second round of Build version 2, and I can’t freaking get enough!! During version 1, (before and after pictures below), I gained so much muscle definition and confidence in my lifts. During version 2, I didn’t do pictures but I gained 2 pounds, lost 2 inches, and got a 15 pound PR on my backsquat. These programs have been more than just workouts for me though. They have boosted my confidence and self esteem, and have helped me to love what I see in the mirror every day. I am stronger than I ever thought possible thanks to EmFit Get Strong!
